MyGateway System Help

Using the Discussion Board

To access and use the Discussion Board area of the "MyGateway" course site, click on the "Communication" link located on the left-hand side of your course site (there may be a button that takes you directly to the Discussion Board).

From within the "Communications Center" click on the "Discussion Board" icon.


When you click on "Discussion Board" the following page will appear:

Only instructors can add forums. As shown above, "Spring 06" has been created by the instructor. Students may now click on that link, read the forum information and create new threads and replies (if enabled).


Once a new thread is created anyone in the class can reply to it or initiate their own thread.

When students click on a thread the thread is shown plus all posted replies to that thread. Students may reply to a thread, or, reply to a reply within the set of threaded replies.

Within a thread students can also search key words, collect and read all (or selected) posts, flag selected posts, and, of course, start new threads and post replies.
