Faculty Help
Below you'll find resources that assist you in using the MyGateway course management system. The MyGateway system has many flexible features which enhance teaching and learning both in and out the classroom. Faculty manage their MyGateway course sites through the "control panel." The control panel is comprised of six areas: (To find out more about a specific item choose the name.)
Content Areas- add files, text and information into a course site.
Course Tools- contains collaborative tools that allow instructors to communicate with their students, examples include email, discussion board and virtual chat.
Course Options - manage the appearance and structure of a course. This feature allows the instructor to customize their MyGateway course site.
User Management - allows instructors to manage users and enrollment.
Assessment - provides tools needed to create assessments or surveys, manage grades and track user activity.
Support Resources - additional help documents and online resources for using MyGateway.

Content Area Resources:
Quick Edit - instructors can modify a content area without going through the contol panel.
Assignment Manager (MS Word doc)- instructors can post assignments, retrieve the assignment from their students and grade the assignment via the gradebook.

Using the Discussion Board in MyGateway - contains information about using the discussion board including: creating threads and forums, reading and replying to messages.
Discussion Board Grading and Post Rating (Flash plug-in required) - highlights new features which include peer rating and grading discussions.

Wimba Classroom and Voice Tools - Wimba Classroom is a real-time virtual classroom that supports voice, video, white-boarding, content display with archive capabilities and application sharing. Use voice tools to increase engagement with your students by promoting vocal collaboration and enhancement of group discussions. Course Options Resources:
Course Entry Point - when users enter their MyGateway course site the default course entry point is set to Announcements. Instructors may want to modify the entry point to remind students of assignments or upcoming projects.

Using the Grade Center - contains help documents for using the Grade Center.
Online Testing Center - a facility where students can take exams using MyGateway (or other online assessment programs). This document contains information about using the facility including: scheduling an exam, hours of operation and current semester schedule.
