Pronto is an instant messaging and voice chat tool made by Wimba:

Features include:

  • Works with MyGateway to automatically populate students' contact lists from their courses
  • Allows students, instrutors and classmates to spontaneously meet live online anytime
  • Provides a robust collaborative environment for students and instructors to interact
  • Allows for convenient real-time communication with your instructor and classmates

Additional collaborative features:

  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Audio
  • Group Instant Messaing (IM)
  • Real-time collaboration and active group participation
  • Builds a community of social netorking within a course by encouraging student-to-student interaction
  • Instant text and audio
  • Personalized user profiles

Download Pronto

You will need access to an internet browser (e.g Internet Explorer, Firefox)

  1. Type in http://mygateway.umsl.edu
  2. Enter your SSO ID and password
  3. Select Communication (course menu bar on left)
  4. Choose Pronto
  5. Click the link that reads "Go Pronto"
  6. Create your Pronto account (*remember to agree to terms indicated)
  7. Click submit

You will receive a message to check your email

  1. Click the E-mail tab located in MyGateway
  2. The email will have a subject line which reads: Pronto Account Activation
  3. Click on the link in the email to activate account
  4. Select Download Pronto
  5. Save the file to your local drive (e.g. desktop)
  6. Filename is: ProntoSetup.exe
  7. Click on file and choose Run
  8. Follow installation instructions
