8:30a.m. - 10:30a.m. - Jim Skirvin - University of Nebraska Holland Computing Center
Building a cutting-edge High Performance Computing Center - Challenges, Design Consideration and Early Adopters

10:30a.m. - 10:40a.m. - Break

10:45a.m. - 12:00p.m. - Tim Carroll - Dell
High Performance Compute Clusters: The Interdependence of Emerging Technology and Market Forces.
Dual core vs. Quad Core, Infiniband vs. 10GbE, Files systems. As compute clusters account for progressively greater HPC market share each year, customers have a greater need to understand vendor “roadmaps” in the commodity cluster space. Given the unique business model represented by commodity clusters, it is critical for system architects and strategists to understand both the market dynamics as well as the underlying technologies to better assess where the technology will be at the time of their deployment. Neither technology nor market forces can be considered in a vacuum. This presentation will deliver several considerations for users attempting to make sense of the fluid product cycles of the various components that comprise high performance commodity clusters.

12:00p.m. - 1:00p.m. - Lunch

1:00p.m. - 1:45p.m. - Dell Presentation (cont'd)

1:45p.m. - 1:55p.m. - Break

2:00p.m. - 4:00p.m. - Henry Gabb - Intel
The presentation will begin with a brief overview of the Intel programming tools, primarily the Intel Cluster Toolkit. The newest feature for MPI analysis, the MPI Correctness Checking Library, will be covered in greater detail. Finally, the Intel Cluster Ready program and its advantages to end-users, software developers, and hardware providers will be discussed.
