Student Participation in Discussion Groups |
Foltz: .In the beginning of the semester I tell the students I want these to be thoughtful discussions. I don't want just a, "Yes, I agree with Erik," type thing. I want you to respond about what your opinion is about the discussion that we're having; why you believe that way, and offer some recommendations if it's a question type thing or something like that. And for the most part students were pretty verbal in terms of having usually a whole paragraph of their thoughts. I didn't really, and have not had to remind them to be more verbose.
