D4: Checklist for Accessibility

 

Develop an understanding of the WAI and Section 508 guidelines for accessibility.

Use a pragmatic approach to implementing web accessibility.

Use a targeted design approach to meet the needs of a group of people with a specific disability type.

Use online evaluation tools to test web pages for accessibility and compliance.

In addition to checking your own web pages for compliance, test the accessibility of the external pages you link to in your online courses.

Participate in a training session or an online course to increase knowledge about accessibility.

Find out who is working on accessibility issues at your institution.

Be proactive in implementing accessible design. Remember small steps make progress.
