| Our
Philanthropy |
|
In
1992, ZTA adopted The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation as its national philanthropy.
Later,
the Fraternity
broadened its focus to encompass
not only the Komen Foundation, but also other educational means
dedicated to fighting breast cancer through education, awareness and
promoting breast health. Furthermore, each alumnae and collegiate
chapter generally volunteers with one or more local philanthropy of its
choosing in addition to their support of the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation
and ZTA's national philanthropy.
Today,
our National
Philanthropy is
Breast
Cancer Education and Awareness.

Every
October and April we have a "Think Pink Week"
filled with activities on campus to promote breast cancer awareness and
to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
During
Think Pink
Week,
We have a number of things going on...
- A
Lip-Sync Contest
- Flyering
and Chalking on campus
- A
Yoplait Yogurt Eating Contest
- Best
Chest Contest
- A
Susan G. Komen speaker in the Student Center
- Passing
out Pink Ribbons
- A Cheerleading
Competition
- "Dig for a Cure" with
the women's volleyball team
We,
as Zetas, take great
pride in knowing that we are a part of the
fight against this awful disease and we will be part of finding a cure.

Service
is a
cornerstone of our timeless sisterhood and we are
truly blessed to be a
part of such a great cause.
|
We
take advantage of every opportunity to raise money for breast cancer
education and awarness.
Every minute volunteered and every
dollar
raised could be one more life saved.

Another
event that Zeta is blessed to be a part of is the Susan G. Komen
Race for the Cure which happens in St. Louis every June.
Thousands
gather from
accross the nation to run, walk, and volunteer in support of finding a
cure.
Zeta
Tau Alpha runs the survivors' booth at the race. We hand out
"In
memory of..." and "In celebration of..." signs out to be pinned on the
backs of those touched by Breast Cancer. We also Serve food
and drinks
and offer games, raffles, and prizes to Survivors.
It
is truly incredible to see all those that have been affected by Breast
Cancer and to know that we are a part of finding the cure.

Thinking pink
means more
green for the Susan G. Komen
Foundation and the ZTA Foundation!
ZTA
collegiate and alumnae chapters collect pink
Yoplait yogurt lids. For each pink lid collected, Yoplait will donate
10 cents to the Susan G. Komen Foundation AND an additional 5 cents to
the ZTA Foundation, up to 300,000 lids!
Zeta
Tau Alpha received "Best Campaign in Support of an
Outside Philanthropy" for its ZTA and Yoplait THINK-PINK!®
to Save Lids to Save Lives program from the North American
Interfraternity Conference. In 2005, during the first week of the
Yoplait lid collection, over half of the lids collected nationally were
from Zetas!

All
ZTA collegiate and alumnae chapters received
customized ZTA Save Lids to Save Lives® Yoplait lid collection
kits, including co-branded table tents, posters, banners, collection
bins, counter cards and t-shirts all featuring the ZTA and Yoplait
logos!
