UMSL Fraternity & Sorority Life is home to three governing councils. These councils, listed below, oversee the operations of each of its member chapters, provide a variety of support programs for the chapters, hold chapter accountable for inappropriate behaviors, and sponsor community-wide events such as Greek Week, Scholar of the Month, and an awards banquet at the end of each year.
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is a collegiate branch of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The NIC is a trade association comprised of 74 national and international men's fraternities. Here at UMSL we have three member chapters of our IFC. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the umbrella organization of the nine historically, though not exclusively, African-American fraternities and sororities, also known as the Divine 9. In St. Louis, most of our Divine 9 organizations are city-wide chapters, meaning they function and have members from all of the universities throughout St. Louis. These organizations are governed on the UMSL campus by the Multi-Greek Council (MGC). For more information about our NPHC organizations, click the logo above.
The College Panhellenic Council, or Panhellenic Association (PHA) is the collegiate branch of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). The NPC serves as the umbrella organization for its 26 women's fraternity member groups. At UMSL, we are home to three of those 26 groups.
