What We Do

“Healthy relationships bring happiness and health to our lives. Studies show that people with healthy relationships really do have more happiness and less stress. There are basic ways to make relationships healthy, even though each one is different…parents, siblings, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, professors, roommates, and classmates.” -Kansas State Univ.

“Alcohol abuse continues to be of great concern on the minds of college administrators, parents, and students, especially new students. This Fall hundreds of thousands of students return to campuses and are faced with tough decisions when it comes to balancing their academic priorities and freedoms associated with college social life. It is vitally important that campuses discuss these challenges and provide support and education to the campus community.” -Bacchus and Gamma

“National Depression Screening Day® (NDSD), the first and largest nationwide, community-based mental health screening program, provides in-person and online screening for four of the most common and frequently co-occurring mental disorders: depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.” -SMH Website

“ Held annually on the 3rd Thursday of November, it was created to highlight the dangers of smoking and challenge people to stop using tobacco.  The idea grew out of a 1971 event when a Massachusetts resident asked people to give up smoking for a day and donate the money they would have spent on cigarettes to a local high school. The idea spread and on November 18, 1976, the California American Cancer Society Division successfully prompted nearly one million smokers to quit for the day.” –Tobacco Free U.org

“With so many issues to think about as you decide to become sexually active, it's easy to forget about what relationships should be built on. We can all think of one couple who seems to have the "perfect" relationship, one built on mutual respect and care for each other. Unfortunately, the opposite is true as well. Most of us can think of one person who is in a relationship that seems to be built on guilt, defensiveness, or where one person has more control or power than the other. So what's healthy and what's unhealthy? How do we make sure we get what we deserve in both friendships and romantic relationships?” -Safer Sex.org
