The UM-St. Louis Alumni Association was founded in 1967 to promote the interests of alumni and the welfare of the University. The Association currently represents nearly 60,000 graduates in 16 chapters across the country.

Major activities include sponsoring of major University events including the annual Founder's Dinner, where the Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented as well as career-oriented networking programs for recent graduates and students; the annual Distinguished Speaker Series; fund raising for scholarships; and lobbying on behalf of the University.  Members also participate in numerous events tailored for their specific academic area of interest.

The Alumni Association offers a wide range of social, professional, and educational benefits as well.  Several new graduate receptions are sponsored by the alumni chapters and annual receptions are sponsored by alumni chapters, departments, and the Alumni Association.
