Emergency Motorist Assist
The University operates a "free" emergency motorist assist vehicle
as a service to motorists on campus. Drivers are prepared to assist
in unlocking car doors when keys have locked inside, jump-starting
cars, and securing outside towing services if major repaire is
needed. To obtain help, call (314)516-5155.
Emergency Phones
A number of emergency phones have been installed on campus.
These phones provide a direct line to the campus police. If
you should have an emergency on campus, simply lift the receiver
(no dialing is required). Blue lights will begin to flash
and you will be connected to Police and Transportation. These
phones may be utilized to report such problems as theft, injury,
and car trouble and are located at various sites on campus
and near most major parking areas.
Escort
If you do not feel comfortable walking to a parking lot, but
stop or anywhere else on campus, contact the Police Department
at (314)516-5155 for an escort. This service is provided for
students, faculty and staff.

All vehicles parking on University property are required to
display a current UM-St. Louis parking permit in accordance
with the Traffic Rules & Regulations, a copy of which is
available on the Parking & Transportation website.
Temporary permits are available to students for $10 per day
but are free of charge to those students who have already
purchased a permit for the current semester.
Handicapped Parking: If you have a physical disability,
you may obtain special permission to park in areas designated
for handicapped parking through University Health Services. Contact
us for more details about UMSL Permanent or Temporary Handicapped
Parking permits. Visitors with disabilities may request a guest
parking permit. Their state handicapped permit will be validated
on our campus.
Metered Parking: Parking meters are available for
guests and visitors. Meters are good for 50 minutes only
and are available from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. After
5:30 p.m. the metered parking areas are available for
students with a current UMSL parking permit.
Guest & Visitor Parking: Guests and visitors may
request a visitors parking permit at the Parking &
Transportation Department or use the parking meters.
Traffic Ticket Appeals: Student parking tickets may be
appealed to the Student Court no later than two weeks after
cititation is issued. Parking appeal forms may be obtained
from the Parking & Transportation website, Parking &
Transportation Office, Cashier's Office, or Student Court.
Carpool programs support efforts to reduce traffic congestion
and pollution on campus. Students who take advantage of the
carpool program share the cost of parking fees.
UM-St. Louis operates a campus shuttle for its students,
when classes are in session. Students may use this service
free of charge. The shuttles stop at numerous locations on
both the North and South Campuses. Schedules and routes are
posted at various locations across campus, and can be found online at
http://www.umsl.edu/~asd/parkingandtransportation/campusshuttle.html.
UM-St. Louis students may ride the Metrolink and metro buses by
presenting a valid I.D. and UMSL Metrolink Pass, available in the
Cashier's Office and the Admissions Office and renewable each
semester.
