Community Conduct History

In the interest of transparency, Fraternity & Sorority Life tracks the learning experiences of local chapters and — when relevant — the measures taken to ensure that the community remains focused on the values of scholarship, leadership, service and brotherhood/sisterhood.

Below you can find details of fraternity and sorority chapters in good standing, on disciplinary probation, those whose sanctions are pending completion, and those organizations that have been suspended/unrecognized.

Unrecognized Organizations

Unrecognized Organizations have cases of misconduct and therefore University recognition is revoked. These organizations are now completely inactive. The University recommends that students not join or participate in any sponsored activity by the listed groups.

It is important to understand that if you choose to become a part of an unrecognized organization you will NOT be recognized by the university. If a student chooses to join an unrecognized organization, the University cannot and will not support this choice.

Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) - Zeta Phi chapter
Council: Interfraternity Council (IFC)

Date of Incident: numerous incidents dating back to, at least, the Fall 2017 semester
Violation/s found responsible for:
University of Missouri Student Standard of Conduct

  • Section 200.010.C.4: Physical abuse or other conduct which threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person; and
  • Section 200.010.C.16 Hazing, defined as an act that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student, or an act that is likely to cause physical or psychological harm to any person within the University community, or that destroys or removes public or private property, for the purpose of initiation, admission into, affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in a group or organization. Participation or cooperation by the person(s) being hazed does not excuse the violation. Failing to intervene to prevent, failing to discourage, and/or failing to report those acts may also violate the policy.
Sanction:
  • Immediate loss of recognition for a minimum of 2 years
  • May seek to be recognized as a student organization effective on or after September 23, 2021, provided that it has complied with the terms stated in the letter from Kasey Fraser-Smith, Assistant Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards, dated September 23, 2019.
