Volunteers are an integral part of the UM-St. Louis community. The objective
of
the UM-St. Louis Volunteer Services Program is to help the University achieve
its mission of meeting the educational, professional, economic and community
needs of the St. Louis area, while enhancing community interest and involvement
at the University of Missouri - St. Louis by providing the public with an opportunity
to serve the campus community in a variety of capacities.
October 2004 - Volunteer Services Program established
January 2005 - First volunteer recruited
January - December 2005 - 195 Volunteers were recruited/serving 4260 hours
January 2006 - Volunteer Training Programs started (PERK)/ Volunteer of the Month Program established
October 2006 - Volunteer Services officially becomes a Certified Volunteer Program of the United Way of Greater St. LouisJanuary - December 2006 - 153 voluteers were recruited/serving 6688 hours
April 2007 - Volunteer Services collaborates with Normandy High School as part of National/Global Youth Service Day
May 2007 - Volunteer Services receives UMSL Distinguished Service Award for Campus-Wide service
