DETAILS
The sixth annual "Women on the Move" exhibition will feature a collection of works by more than 20 women artists, including UMSL students, graduates and faculty. The exhibit will feature work in a variety of media.
"Women on the Move" traditionally features a special mini-exhibit that is dedicated to showcasing a historical female figure. This year's exhibit will be "The Other Scott: Harriet's Story." It will focus on Harriet Scott. She was the wife of Dread Scott, who is known for his attempt to sue the state of Missouri for his freedom in 1847. This portion of "Women on the Move" will be prepared by Kathleen Butterly Nigro, assistant teaching professor in the Institute for Women's and Gender Studies at UMSL.
An opening reception will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 20 in the gallery. Light refreshments will be served.
