Submissions sought for Gallery Visio exhibit

Gallery Visio at the University of Missouri-St. Louis is accepting submissions for the upcoming exhibit "imPOSTERs: An Exhibition of Real Posters for Unreal Bands."

As the show's title would suggest, the gallery is looking for artists to create a promotional poster for a fictional band. The selected works will be exhibited in classic "poster show" fashion using bulldog clips fastened to the walls. No artwork will be framed, mounted or matted.

Gallery Visio will charge a $15 acceptance fee per artist, payable on the drop-off date. There is no application fee and no commission. The selected artists will retain 100 percent of sales. Each submitted poster must promote a band that does not exist and include the band's name, as well as a date and venue. Posters must be printed digitally or by hand on paper sized within a range of 11 inches by 14 inches to 19 inches by 25 inches.

Submissions can be sent for review to galvisio@umsl.edu. Posters must be a JPG image sized at 500 kilobytes or less and attached to the e-mail. Please include "POSTER SHOW ENTRY" in the e-mail's subject line. There is no limit of entries per person. The deadline for receiving submissions is June 1. Bonus points will be awarded to the most creative band names.
