Named for former State Senator Wayne Goode, the paved biking-hiking trail runs through the UMSL campus. The trail is part of the Greenway District, a region-wide system of interconnected greenways, parks and trails known as the River Ring. When completed, the River Ring will join Missouri and Illinois and cover an area of 1,216 square miles. Development of the project is led by The Great Rivers Greenway District, a public organization. The district was established in November 2000 by the successful passage of the Clean Water, Safe Parks and Community Trails Initiative (Proposition C) in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County, Mo.
