DETAILS
"The Monkey Trail" is a documentary on homelessness in St. Louis. It covered the daily struggle for survival, including issues with travel, food, clothing, finding temporary shelter, addiction and mental illness. The film also explores the procedural difficulties of securing permanent and independent housing, steady work, sobriety and healthcare.

"The Monkey Trail" is the final installment of a four-part Peter & Paul Community Services series taking place in conjunction with the current Gallery 210 exhibit "Urgent Shelter." The exhibit includes structures designed for people who are homeless or have been displaced by war or natural disaster. The featured artists and designers are Global Village, Electroland, Michael Rakowitz and Mad Housers.

"Urgent Shelter" is on display now through May 31 in Gallery 210 at UMSL.
