DETAILS
The program will include performances of music composed by Benjamin Britten, David Delle Cese, Frank Ticheli, Oskar Bohme, Philip Sparke, Charles Ives, George Gershwin and Samuel Augustus Ward.

The University Symphonic Band is UMSL' s formal concert band. Gary Brandes, assistant professor of music at UMSL, conducts the band.

The band will be joined by guest trumpeter Lorenzo Trujillo, lecturer in music at UMSL. Trujillo began his music training when he started playing the violin at age four. By high school, the music prodigy had taken up a dozen instruments, including trumpet. He also conducted his high school orchestra and often directed his high school jazz band. Trujillo has since performed in more than 400 cities in four countries, including guest performances with a diverse group of recording artists and ensembles, including the Saint Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, Travis Tritt, Kid Rock, Lyric Opera of Los Angeles and Poncho Sanchez.
