1. HONORARY DEGREE NOMINATIONS

The Honorary Awards Committee at the University of Missouri-St. Louis is soliciting nominations for honorary degrees. Honorary degrees are awarded at UMSL commencement ceremonies.
The committee meets quarterly to consider nominations.

Honorary degree criteria, from the University of Missouri System Collected Rules and Regulations, are:

    • Persons who have rendered distinctive service to the university
    • Persons who have rendered distinctive service to the state
    • Graduates or former students who have achieved distinction
    • Persons of high distinction, from this country or abroad, who are not necessarily associated with the university or state

As a general policy, honorary degrees shall not be awarded to active members of the university faculty or staff, retired faculty members for career distinction achieved at the University of Missouri or political officials unless retired from political life.

2. 2014 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 Distinguished Service Awards.
Please help us identify external volunteers who have been important to the growth of the campus.

Awards will be giving in three categories:
    -Campus-wide service
    -Unit-based service
    -Student service

Criteria:
    -Voluntary effort which involves a significant level of leadership, responsibility and/or initiative;
    -Voluntary effort which makes a major difference in carrying out an activity, program or set of
               activities valuable to the UMSL mission;
    -Connection with UMSL: student, alumnus, friend;  (current faculty and staff not eligible)

Send nominations by March 14 (including a short rationale) to:
