Intercampus Staff Council
A proposal was submitted to the UM System in the Spring of 1999 to establish an Intercampus Staff Council. The purpose would be “to provide a mechanism for all staff to speak with one voice when addressing system wide issues.” The proposal was accepted but with some changes. The original proposal stated each campus and UM System would have three or four representatives, depending on circumstances, but System administration has set the number at two per campus. The System recommended that the two reps be the Chair/President and the Vice-Chair/ Vice-President. When the proposal went forth last year, the Staff Council recommenced that the Executive Officers serve on this committee; therefore, Debra Braun and Curt Coonrod will be our campus representatives for the inaugural year of the intercampus Staff Council.We are told that the the UM System originally was not in favor of the proposal but that input from the Chancellors was going to be sought. We know Chancellor Touhill was in favor of this Council. Thanks to all the Chancellors who supported our proposal and made the Intercampus Staff Council a reality.
