Villa North Optometry Community
"Eye Live and Learn"

In 2004, Dr. Barbara Brown, envisioned a living and learning community of optometry students to enrich their experience and education with the Optometry Program at UM St. Louis. In partnership with Residential Life and Housing, this vision blossomed into a reality in 2007. Many Optometry students choose this community because of its convenience, affordability, and camaraderie.

Testimonials

  • The most convenient thing about living in Villa North is the close proximity to your classes.  It's nice to not have to get up early to travel across town before class each day.
~Bryan, College of Optometry, Class of 2012

  • The most convenient thing about living in Villa North is proximity to campus, and I chose to live in Villa North because living in the Villa would help me get better grades.  Additionally, you have the opportunity to interact with a lot of upperclassmen.
~Tyler, College of Optometry, Class of 2013

  • The most convenient thing about living in Villa North is the ability to just walk across a parking lot to get to class, and have the option to access the library, or more importantly, PRE-CLINIC at any time and multiple times throughout the day/weekend w/o having to waste time driving. I chose to live in Villa North because I didn't know anything or anyone in St. Louis, nor could I figure out how to navigate through this city, so it gave me the opportunity to meet and become close to people not only in my class, but in classes above and below me (which comes in very handy when studying for tests!)  And, rent was so cheap, I couldn't pass it up!  One thing that Villa North has that you can't get anywhere else is camaraderie.
~Dinita, College of Optometry, Class of 2012

  • The most convenient thing about Villa North is the upper classmen who you can go to for help.  I borrowed a lot of books my first year.
~Jennifer, College of Optometry, Class of 2012
