(AritcleLinker) often runs smoothly, but sometimes problems arise that you should know about. |
Here's an article that is obviously available in full text.
You would click the Full Text Online button to get the article. Click it now. |
So where's the article? |
Instead of the full-text, an error message has been generated by the database.
|
The article probably exists in the database despite the message to the contrary. Something went wrong in the connection. |
Here's another common mistake: a screen asks you to login for some enhanced services which do not include the text of the article. The above is not an UMSL login screen. |
Even more significant is the offer to sell you the article. That is definitely a mistake! You should not have to purchase any article you see indexed in our databases. |
All of the errors we have mentioned so far are mistakes brought about by technological miscommunication.
|
ArticleLinker is useful, but be aware that many things can go wrong with full-text access at any link in the chain. |

If you are getting confusing messages or find yourself clicking link after link and the text never appears on the screen, ask for help. Don't spend more than a couple of minutes on it. |
Reference librarians can solve the problem in minutes if
not seconds.
