In this module we will learn about another situation that may happen when one clicks the icon or any of its equivalents below: |
This screen informs you that this particular article is "not available online".
In fact, the article will not be available on a shelf at the UMSL Libraries, either. So what can you do to get the article? |
You can still get a copy of the article by submitting an online form to request it. The article will be found at another university and a copy will be sent to you. Usually, there is no charge for UMSL students (but if there is money involved, you will be informed about it before you make a decision to proceed).
|
Click Request this item from Interlibrary Loan. |
Great! After clicking the link, you will be asked to login with your SSO ID and password.
|
A form showing the full citation will appear.
|
Submit the form by clicking Submit Request at the bottom of the form. Click it now to continue. |
Great! When the article is ready you will get an email that will alert you to the fact, and that will provide instructions for retrieving the article.
The time varies, but articles frequently arrive within 3-5 days, sometimes less. WARNING: If you never get the alert email, check your email's spam folder. Alert emails sometimes end up in spam folders since they are automatically generated messages. Click the Submit Request button once more to continue. |
By using UMSL students may be able to get access to most articles referenced in a database or other information source. Problems? Ask for help at the library's Public Service Desk desk or give us a call. |
