In this module we will explore what happens when an article is ONLY on the shelves at one of the UMSL Libraries. |
The screen above informs us that the article in question is not availalbe online. |
Instead, the article is available in one of the many UMSL Libraries Print Journals. |
In other words, the article is available on the shelves of one or more of the UMSL libraries. You will need the call number of the journal to find the article. |
Sometimes the article will be available in microfilm or microfiche. Either way, you will still need the journal call number to find it. |
You would click the Browse Journal button to find the call number, and then retrieve the journal from a library shelf. You would then photocopy or scan the article (more about this later). |
To reiterate: not every article mentioned in a database will be available online. Some of the articles might only be available in locations at the UMSL Libraries. We will describe the process of finding these paper or microfilm/microfiche articles later.
However, what happens when an article is not available in a database or in any other format at the libraries? That will be the subject of another module. Module finished! |
