This short module explores situations when indicates that an article definitely is available online, yet there isn't any direct link to the article. This happens on occasion. |
In the ArticleLinker screen above we see nothing that says Full Text Online. However, the article IS actually available electronically. |
For technical reasons ArticleLinker cannot always provide a direct link to the article itself. However, it gives you a link to the journal as it appears in the database. |
You can then click the Browse Journal link and search for the article yourself. Maybe not an ideal situation but worth a try. If you have trouble locating the article in the database, call or ask an UMSL reference librarian for help. |
For now, just click the Browse Journal link to the left. |
Great! Here, at this new screen, we see a situation similar to the previous one, where ArticleLinker is unable to provide a direct link to the article... |
... yet the article is definitely available online, in three separate databases. |
Click all three of the Browse Journal links to continue. |
Very good! Remember, cannot always give you a direct link to an article, so it provides a link to a database which you can then search to find the article online.
It can be tricky finding an article this way. If you have trouble, please ask for help from UMSL reference librarians. There are still other things to learn about ArticleLinker, such as what happens when articles are NOT available in any UMSL databases. We will explore this issue in later modules. Module finished!
