The Thomas Jefferson and Ward E. Barnes Libraries maintain course reserve collections to support instructional requirements. The reserve collections consist of library materials, articles, and instructors books, syllabi, and lecture notes. Faculty request these materials be placed on reserve.
Patrons may only have two reserve materials checked out at any given time. The loan periods for reserve materials are:
- 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, or 2 hours - Materials under these loan periods can leave the library
- 2 hours, Library Use Only - Materials under this loan period cannot leave the library. The patron's ID card will be kept at the Circulation Desk during check out
The library will make items available as soon as possible, however please allow 24 to 48 hours for items to be placed on reserve. All reserve items are kept at the Circulation Desks.
Additional charges will be assessed for overdue materials.
The Libraries observe copyright law when placing materials on reserve. Detailed information is available on this web site under Copyright Law & TEACH Act.
The Thomas Jefferson Library serves as a back-up and has a limited number of tapes for some video instruction courses. The videos are only available on a first-come, first-served basis; you will need a valid student identification card to check out tapes for three days or to view them in the Libraries. The Libraries issue fines for overdue videos and replacement costs for videos not returned. NOTE: Student assistants in the Libraries are sometimes unfamiliar with the VIP program and the video tapes. If you have questions, please request assistance from the Reference Librarians.
