Complete information for connecting online to the UMSL Libraries from an off-campus location can be found at the Connect from Off Campus link.

Problems Connecting to the Internet and to UMSL:

If you have problems connecting to the Internet, contact your Internet service provider.

If you are able to establish a connection to other resources on the Internet, but are unable to connect to UMSL web pages (URLS ending in umsl.edu), contact the UMSL Technology Support Center(TSC).

Problems Accessing Specific Library Databases and other Library Resources:

Remember: UMSL Library Database usage is restricted to current UMSL students, faculty and staff.

  • You can access UMSL Library resources when you are in MyGateway/Blackboard - click on the red Library tab.
  • You will also find a Databases link on each of the UMSL Libraries' web pages
    1. Locate Databases in the left-hand list on any of the library web pages
    2. Click on either:
      Sorted Alphabetically
      or
Sorted by Subject - Then click on the desired subject area (i.e., Business & Economics, Education/Counseling, etc.) to view a list of database choices.
    3. Click on the name of the desired database
      (i.e.:  LexisNexis Academic).
    4. Then click on the Search (database name) link
      (i.e.: Search LexisNexis Academic)
    5. When searching from an off-campus location you may be asked to enter your SSO ID and password.

If you are experiencing difficulty entering the database at this point, call the Thomas Jefferson Library Reference Desk at (314) 516-5060 or the Ward Barnes Library (314) 516-5576 for help during library hours.
