Library Databases vs. 'the Web':
  • Library Databases - Databases on the Library's website are mostly paid for by the Libraries and contain evaluated information suitable for academic research. These databases are made available to current UM-St. Louis faculty, staff, and students.
  • 'the Web' - Anyone can put a site on the Web. Of these sites only a small percentage of the information is suitable for scholarly research. For information on evaluating Web sites, please read our Evaluating Web Resources handout.
