Faculty Position Numbers
The Personnel Action Form (PAF) and the instructions have been updated. Three new fields have been added to the form – “Position Number” (field #8), “SupID” (field #12), and “Reports To” (field #13). With the addition of these fields, the process for assigning position numbers to faculty is as follows:
- Departments should complete the PAF and submit it along with any other associated paperwork to Andrea Dunbar in HR.
- For faculty positions that have previously been assigned a position number, departments must complete the “Position Number” (#8) and “Reports To” (#13) fields with the appropriate position numbers.
- For faculty positions that have not been assigned a position number, departments must complete the “Reports To” (#13) field with the position number of the supervisor.
- For student and temporary titles, departments must complete the “SupID” (#12) field. This is the Supervisor's Employee ID number. (For student and temporary titles, do not complete the “Position Number” (#8) and “Reports To” (#13) fields.
- PAFs without “Position Number” and “Reports To” OR “SupID” information (as indicated above) will be returned to the department of origin for additional processing/correction.
- Departments will no longer receive an email with their requested position number assignment. Departments that wish to review their assigned position numbers or locate them for future use will be able to do so in the Job Data section of PeopleSoft after the PAF has been entered by HR. The prior procedure of requesting position numbers is terminated effective with the issuance of the revised PAF’s.
- The PAF Turnaround is being updated and will be released soon.
Please review the guidelines for assigning position numbers.
