Students, Faculty, and Staff can receive their allergy shots at Health Services. Clients must supply their own allergy medication, syringes, and an epinephrine pen. We must have orders from the physician and supplies with your initial visit. The initial visit is a consultation, which takes about 30 minutes, and then we will schedule you for your first allergy shot. After an injection, patients are required to remain in the clinic for a minimum of 15 minutes to 30 minutes to monitor for reaction to the injections.
We provide blood glucose check for diabetic screening to Students, Faculty, and Staff at no charge. This screening is performed using blood from a finger stick. The best time for a screening is after an individual has fasted for a minimum of 6 hours. Appointments are necessary for this service.
Blood pressure checks can be performed at any time during regular clinic hours. If you will call ahead just prior to coming for a screening, we can usually see you as soon as you arrive.
We treat a variety of illnesses in the clinic. There is no charge for assessment and consultation, and no fee for most services unless we perform lab tests (such as a strep test or urinalysis), or if we give you prescription medication. We try to see patients with illnesses on the same day, but please try to call early for an appointment if possible. We will see walk-ins on an as needed basis as scheduling allows.
Patients with injuries are always seen as soon as possible. We can treat minor injuries and will refer more serious injuries to appropriate facilities.
We provide a variety of immunizations to our Students, Faculty, and Staff at reasonable rates. Please refer to each link for further information on each. Immunizations offered are as follows:
LABORATORY TESTING:INFORMATION TO COME
Physical examinations are perfomed by Nurse Practitioners. Physical exams must be scheduled in advance and we ask that you allow an hour. This exam does not include lab work.
We can do a urine pregnancy test as early as the first missed day of your period. Appointments are preferred, but we will see walk-ins as scheduling allows.
After we have seen a patient and determined that they need more in depth care, we will refer you to the appropriate medical facility/practitioner. If you have health insurance other than that provided by Chickering, we recommend that you go through your insurance provider for a list of approved doctors.
SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS TESTING: INFORMATION TO COME
We do urine drug screens for school and/or work. Please call for an appointment and to verify that the drug screen you require is the one we perform, as there are different types.
WEIGHT CHECK
We can do weight checks at any time during clinic hours. This is a self-
performed test and we provide the scale and assistance with an accurate weight as needed. No appointment is necessary.
