A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a nurse with advanced education in primary care who is licensed by the state and certified nationally to assess, diagnose and treat acute health problems and stable chronic health problems. The nurse practitioner may write prescriptions as appropriate for medications. The nurse practitioner in Missouri has a collaborating physician who provides consultation. At University Health Services, the nurse practitioner can treat acute (short term) conditions and provide preventive care (physicals and well woman exams).
A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who is licensed by the state to perform various clinic tasks including, but not limited to blood pressure checks, medication administration, immunization administration, wound care, specimen collection and testing, assessment of acute health problems, and giving instructions for health care.
The Office Supervisor is responsible for the front office functions, which include scheduling appointments, ensuring coverage of front desk, telephone contacts, providing information, and ensuring support for Health, Wellness and Counseling professional staff. The Office Supervisor is also responsible for managing the payroll and budget records under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs.
