PAP Smear

(Papanicolaou test)

PAP smears are done to detect cancer of the cervix. This is a simple, painless procedure in which cells are gently scraped from the cervix and rinsed into a liquid-based fixative called Thin Prep. University Health Services has recently changed to this type of sample due to it's documented superiority in clinical studies.
