Your Gynecologic Examination

 

It is very normal to be nervous about having a gynecologic or well woman exam done, especially if it your first exam. If you know the process ahead of time, it may help to alleviate some of that nervousness.

Components of well woman exam:

  • Discussion with health care provider:
    • Health history
    • Gynecologic history
    • Health concerns
  • Weight/ Height
  • Blood pressure
  • Neck examination and examination of heart and lungs
  • Breast exam and teaching of breast self exam
  • PAP/pelvic exam
  • Discussion with health care provider:
    • Birth control options
    • Treatment of any health concern
