Missouri Writing Region of the Scholastic Writing Awards
The 2017 Scholastic Writing Awards are now open. The Missouri region anticipates more than 1,000 entries from students in grades 7-12. With eleven categories -- from flash fiction to critical essay -- students can submit writing in the genre of choice. The Scholastic Writing Awards are a national competition and Gold Key winners from Missouri (and Kansas counties near Kansas City) advance to the next level.
Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention awards are distributed in each category, and winners are invited to the annual Scholastic Writing Awards Ceremony at the Tan Tar-A resort in Osage Beach, MO in February.
Visit www.artandwriting.org to submit student work. And contact Katie Kline firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about this year's competition or would like some posters sent to your school.

Through the Scholastic Awards, teens in grades 7 through 12 from public, private, or home schools can apply in 29 categories of art and writing for their chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited and published. Beyond the Awards, the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers produces a number of programs to support creative students and their educators, including the Art.Write.Now.Tour, the National Student Poets Program, the Scholastic Awards Summer Workshops and Scholastic Awards Summer Scholarships programs, the Golden Educators Residency, and much more.
