GWP workshops are not one-shot performances. GWP works closely with schools to plan a cohesive series of sessions (15 to 45 hours) tailored to the needs of the attending teachers. Threads of writing process instruction are woven together with three beliefs:

  • The need for teachers to write themselves
  • The necessity of time, feedback, and ownership for young writers
  • The importance of culturally-responsive teaching

Rooted in the powerful teachers-teaching-teachers model, each workshop includes demonstration lessons that are classroom tested and research based. Programs may be offered for credit.
