"The Candy Bombers" Special Presentation by Andrei Cherny, author of the new bestseller about the Berlin Airlift. Followed by a reception preview showing of the Berlin Airlift Exhibit at the Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri-St. Louis

A former Senior Speechwriter and advisor to Vice President Al Gore, Cherny was the youngest White House Speechwriter in American history. He writes frequently on politics, policy, and history for the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and New Republic, is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, and appears as a commentator on television news programs including ABC's Good Morning America, The O'Reilly Factor, and CNN Morning.

the 60th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BERLIN AIRLIFT

The German Culture Center-UMSL is pleased to host a traveling photo exhibition depicting the 1948/49 Berlin Airlift, one of the greatest humanitarian efforts of all time. The exhibit will be in the Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri-St. Louis

CONCERTS
MUSIKKAPELLE ROETHENBACH

The fine German symphonic band Die Musikkapelle Roethenbach will return to the U.S. for a tour which will include concerts at the University of Missouri-St. Lous, the Florissant Civic Center Theatre, and the Belleville Sister Cities' "Taste of Germany" event.

The group came to St. Louis in 2004.  GCC Coordinator has guest conducted the ensemble in Germany on two occasions.

This year, the group will do combined concerts with Northwinds Concert Band and the Symphonic Band of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

"DYKO"

The German musician DYKO will present a concert for students at the JC Penney Auditorium on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  Presented inb cooperation with GOETHE-INSTITUT CHICAGO.

GERMAN JOURNALIST CHRISTOPH BERTRAM

"EUROPEAN REACTION TO THE U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION"

Acclaimed journalist and political expert, Christoph Bertram, will lead a discussion about the European reaction to the U.S. presidentail election at 7:30 pm in the Student Government Chamber in the Millennium Student Center on the UMSL campus.
