How can I make a payment online?
An electronic payment can be made on eBill through a checking or savings account or by credit card (MasterCard or Discover cards only). To get to eBill to make a payment, go http://ebill.umsl.edu. Students will click the MyView button and Authorized Payers (parents/others) will click the Authorized Payer button.
Students: Sign in to MyView with your MyGateway ID and password. (For help in signing in to MyView, see the gatewayid.umsl.edu page to retrieve or set up your MyGateway ID and password.)
If you are signing in to MyView for the first time, you will need to agree to the UMSL e-consent policy. Click here to find out about e-consent and how to agree.
- Once you have e-consented, click the 'Self Service' link on the menu bar.
- Next, click on 'Student Center'.
- From your student center, click the 'Make a Payment' link under the Finances section.
- From this ‘Make a Payment’ page click the Continue button to be taken to eBill where you will make your payment. Before clicking the Continue button, make sure that your internet browser is set to allow pop-ups from MyView. Read the paragraph above the Continue button to find out how.
- From eBill, select the Make a Payment option and continue to each page filling in the fields until you have submitted your payment.
Authorized Payers: Beginning on April 18, 2008, Authorized Payers can login to eBill with the User ID and password that were e-mailed to them. On April 16, 2008, all Authorized Payers were sent an email containing a new eBill User ID. On April 17, 2008 an email was sent containing a new eBill password. Only the User ID's and passwords that were e-mailed will grant access to eBill. Authorized payers may then use the Maintain User Profile feature to change their password. If the password is forgotten, only the student can re-issue the authorization.
Can I pay on my student account with my credit card?
- MasterCard and Discover credit cards only are accepted for payment online at http://ebill.umsl.edu from any computer on campus or any computer with internet access. A service charge of 2.75% of the amount charged will be added to each payment made by credit card. This service charge was set by the third-party credit card processor.
- There is a payment kiosk available, just outside the Cashier’s Office for your convenience. Two additional payment kiosks are located inside the Cashier’s Office and a fourth is situated on the third floor of the MSC between the offices of Financial Aid and Registration.
Why is there a service charge for credit card payments?
While credit card payments offer a convenient way for students and parents to make payments on the student account, the cost to the University for providing this convenience has grown to approximately $2,000,000 annually. In our current budget situation, the University must examine all the charges we pay. Therefore, the University has decided to require those who use this convenience to cover its cost.
Why are VISA credit cards not accepted for payment on student accounts?
Unlike MasterCard and Discover, VISA does not allow a service charge that varies with the amount of the transaction (a percentage-based fee). The University was unable to negotiate an acceptable method of assessing a service charge for VISA payments on student accounts.
What address should I use if I am paying my bill through my banks’ online bill pay service?
Please use our UMSL Campus address for electronic payments through your bank:
University of Missouri -St. Louis
Cashier's Office
One University Blvd.
St Louis MO 63121-4400
How can I avoid paying the 2.75% credit card payment service charge?
We offer the following forms of payment at no additional charge:
- Payment in cash is accepted at the Cashier’s office teller stations.
- Payment can be made by check or money order in person at the Cashier’s office or submitted through the payment drop box located just outside of the Cashier’s office.
- Electronic check payment can be made from a checking or savings account using your banks routing number and account number. Available at http://ebill.umsl.edu from any computer with internet access or from any of the four payment kiosks located in the MSC.
- Pin based debit cards are accepted at the Cashier’s office teller stations.
Why can't I use a credit card at the Cashier’s window?
Credit card rules say that service charges must be charged for all payment types for a given payment location. Consequently, if we allowed credit card payments at the cashier's stations, we would also have to add the service charge to check and cash transactions. Therefore, we had to move all credit card payment processing to a third-party credit card processor. There is a payment kiosk available, just outside the Cashier’s Office for your convenience. Two additional payment kiosks are located inside the Cashier’s Office and a fourth is situated on the third floor of the MSC between the offices of Financial Aid and Registration. You could also make a payment from any computer on campus or from any public computer with internet access.
Can I use my VISA credit card elsewhere on campus?
This payment decision only applies to payments on student accounts. Other payments are not affected by this policy.
How can I avoid using my credit card to finance my education?

Will my payment post to my student account right away?
Yes. Payments made on eBill will post to your student account right away. You will also receive immediate confirmation of your payment being made.
Will it be easy for my parent’s to access the eBill site to make payments on my behalf?
Login to the e-Bill site, then add who you want to be an authorized user. Your parents/authorized user will receive an email with instructions on how to login to e-bill. Once logged in, parents/authorized users will be able to make payments or view your student account and make payments depending on the access that you granted them.
If I make a credit card payment and then later receive a refund back on my credit card, will I be refunded the “service charge” too?
The fee is charged by the processing company and is not subject to refund.
