Paper Statements Will Be Discontinued
For the past few years UMSL has been sending both paper statements and e·Bill notification emails. These email notices are sent to students at their official UMSL email address, and to their authorized users (set up via eBill). The emails notify recipients that a copy of the newest monthly student account statement is now available online at http://ebill.umsl.edu and includes links with more information about: Payment Options, Understanding your monthly billing statement and adding parents or others as authorized users. The March 2008 bill will be the last mailed paper statement for enrolled students. After that, we’ll continue to send billing notification emails each month notifying you that your current bill is available online.
Benefits and advantages of electronic billing:
- No more waiting for your statement to arrive in the mail. Students and designated family members can view and pay their bill from a secure website, from any location, day or night. Electronic check payments are free of charge.
- It is easier to track past activity. It can be tedious to track past paper statements. eBill allows 12 months of previous statements to be viewed online. You can also print a copy of the billing statement or save a copy to your computer.
- Online services and communication are enhanced. Several University applications and processes are already paperless or electronic. Electronic billing continues this initiative and the web culture that students have become accustomed.
Students:
Since you already check your UMSL email frequently (you are, aren’t you?) for important messages, this will be an easy transition. If you are not receiving eBill notification emails currently, please check the following:
- Are you checking the official UMSL email account which ends in ‘umsl.edu’?
- Is your mailbox ‘full’?
- If you are forwarding emails, send a test email to the UMSL email address and make sure you receive it on the forwarding email account. If not, check that you have typed the email address correctly and that there is no email or spam filtering which might be interfering.
Parents / Authorized Users:
You will continue to receive billing notification emails each month as long as your student has you set up as an authorized user. Only the student can assign authorized users. Once signed-up, you will be e-mailed each month when a billing statement is available. If you are an authorized user and are not receiving notification emails, please check the following:
- Log in to eBill and verify your e-mail address on the User Preferences page
- Add ‘umslcash@umsl.edu’ to your address book to prevent notification emails from being marked as spam.
* Your e-Bill notification email will not include personal or account information; it is simply an email notice with links and directions on how to access our secure web site.
