Non-Resident Scholarship Programs

 

Students’ residency statuses are reviewed when they are admitted to the university. If a student is considered a non-Missouri resident at the time of admission, they will automatically be considered for a Non-Resident Scholarship or the Metropolitan Rate. Non-Missouri residents who wish to participate in the Midwest Student Exchange Program will need to apply separately to the program. 

Name: Metropolitan Rate
Amount: Waives non-resident fees for undergraduate students who reside in the Illinois counties of Adams, Bond, Calhoun, Christian, Clinton, Greene, Jackson, Jefferson, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Pike, Randolph, Sangamon, Scott, Saint Clair, Washington, or Williamson. Visit the Admissions website for additional information.
Renewal: Recipients must remain enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at UMSL, maintain residency in Illinois, and make satisfactory progress toward program completion.
   
Name: Midwest Student Exchange Program
Amount: MSEP enables residents from Illinois, IndianaKansas, Michigan, Minnesota, NebraskaNorth Dakota, or Wisconsin to enroll at UMSL at tuition levels discounted below non-resident rates. MSEP students pay 150 percent of UMSL’s resident tuition. Application required. Visit the Admissions website for additional information. 
Renewal: Recipients must remain enrolled in an UMSL degree program, maintain residency in a participating state, and make satisfactory progress toward program completion. MSEP status is revoked if a student changes to non-participating degree program.
   
Name: Dean's Non-Resident Scholarship
Amount: 50% of non-resident fees
Freshmen Criteria: First-time freshmen who are not Missouri residents with a composite ACT score of 24 or better (or SAT equivalent). Full-time enrollment required. Students receiving the Metropolitan Rate or participating in the Midwest Student Exchange Program are not eligible.
Transfer Criteria: New transfer students who are not Missouri residents and are transferring at least 24 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better. Full-time enrollment required.  Students receiving the Metropolitan Rate or participating in the Midwest Student Exchange Program are not eligible.
Renewal: Recipients must complete a minimum of 24 credit hours between the fall and spring semesters and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better. Renewable for up to three additional years for freshmen. Renewable for up to two additional years for transfers.
   
Name: Provost's Non-Resident Scholarship
Amount: Waives non-resident fees
Freshmen Criteria: First-time freshmen who are not Missouri residents with a composite ACT score of 28 or better (or SAT equivalent). Full-time enrollment required. Students receiving the Metropolitan Rate or participating in the Midwest Student Exchange Program are not eligible.
Transfer Criteria: New transfer students who are not Missouri residents and are transferring at least 24 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better. Full-time enrollment required. Students receiving the Metropolitan Rate or participating in the Midwest Student Exchange Program are not eligible.
Renewal: Recipients must complete a minimum of 24 credit hours between the fall and spring semesters and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better. Renewable for up to three additional years for freshmen. Renewable for up to two additional years for transfers.


Note: These scholarships are mutually exclusive and therefore cannot be combined or stacked with one another.  These scholarships are available to US Citizens or permanent residents.
