Summer 2008 Financial Aid Information
How do I receive financial aid for Summer 2008 sessions?
Complete a Summer Financial Aid Application and return it to the Student Financial Aid Office by the appropriate deadline. The application is available beginning April 7, 2008 in the Student Financial Aid Office or at the bottom of this page. You must have a processed 2007 - 2008 FAFSA on file. A processed FAFSA means that we have received your FAFSA results by the deadline below, or that you have submitted a FAFSA to the processor by June 30, 2008 (whichever is earlier). The FAFSA may be filed online.
Application Deadlines
| Session I | May 12 - June 7 | No later than May 12 |
| Session II | June 9 - July 5 7 | No later than June 9 |
| Session III | July 7 - August 2 | No later than July 7 |
| Session IV | May 12 - July 5 | No later than May 12 |
| Session V | June 9 - August 2 | No later than June 9 |
| Session VI | May 12 - August 2 | No later than May 12 |
When will I receive an award letter?
You should receive your award letter approximately 2 weeks after we have a complete application, valid FAFSA, and any other required documents, on file. All students, both undergraduate and graduate, must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours (3 hours half time/6 full time are requirements only for the summer term). The total sum of all sessions will determine your enrollment status. If you are a non-degree seeking or visiting student, you are not eligible for federal financial aid. You may, however, be eligible for an alternative loan. For more information about alternative loans, please visit our web page for more information.
When will funds be disbursed to my account with the Cashier's Office?
Assuming you have submitted all necessary documents, the funds will be disbursed on the first day you are enrolled at least half time.
Examples:
- You registered for 3 hrs in Session 1 and 3 hrs in Session 2. The funds will be disbursed to your account on and not before May 12th, because you are not considered half time until May 12th.
- You registered for 1 hr in Session 1 and 5 hrs in Session 3. The funds will be disbursed to your account on and not before July 7, 2008, because you are not considered half time (at least 3 hours) until July 7, 2008.
If I borrowed a Stafford Loan for Fall 2007 and Spring 2008, will I be able to borrow more?
If you borrowed the maximum amount of Stafford loans for your grade level, you are not eligible to borrow during Summer 2008. However, you may qualify for an alternative loan or a Parent PLUS loan. If you used only a portion of your annual Stafford loan eligibility, you may borrow additional loans for the Summer 2008 semester. We will inform you of your options after you complete a summer application.
