Registering with Disability Access Services
If you are an UMSL student and have a documented disability, Disability Access Services can help you obtain the accommodations you need in order to be successful in your courses. First, you have to become registered with our office. You can do this at any time during the semester, but we recommend doing it before classes start.
New Students
If you are a new student to Disability Access Services, please follow the step-by-step instructions below. These steps are also included on the Student Checklist.
____ 1. Complete a Disability Access
Services (DAS) Application and Registration Form.
____ 2. Arrange
for medical documentation to be provided to DAS. DAS can assist you in signing
a release and faxing it to your medical professional. Once your application and
documentation have been received, your file with be complete. A staff member from DAS will contact you to let you know that you are officially registered with DAS.
____ 3. Prior to receiving your Faculty Notification
letter, you must meet with a staff member in DAS to discuss program policies and your accommodations. This ensures that you understand
the steps necessary to arrange for accommodations with DAS.
Returning Students
If you are already registered with Disability Access Services and have received services or accommodations, the registration process is simple. At the start of each semester, you will need to submit an updated Registration Form and pick up your Faculty Notification Memo.
