Pierre Laclede Honors College
The primary mission of the Pierre Laclede Honors College is to enrich the educational experiences of its students by providing a challenging curriculum based chiefly on the traditional disciplines of the arts and sciences. The college provides students of all majors with challenging and engaging coursework to promote global awareness, cultural diversity, research and internships.
The Honors College was founded in 1989, and is housed in the Provincial House on UMSL’s South Campus. All of the nearly 500 students enrolled each semester participate in small, seminar-style courses and independent study programs.
Financial support provides essential research opportunities and technology software and equipment. In addition, the college strives to provide small classes, academic scholarships and study abroad opportunities. These enriching programs are often only available through generous gifts from alumni and community friends.
