College of Arts and Sciences
The College of Arts and Sciences teaches students to think critically, reflect on important issues, communicate effectively and prepare for a professional career. Through a variety of academic programs, the college educates traditional and nontraditional students to supply knowledge, skills and intellectual leadership in both the private and public sectors.
The college is the oldest and largest on campus, with more than 200 professors, all of whom hold terminal degrees. This academic center provides for the educational needs of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students through its 14 departments, School of Social Work and Institute for Women’s and Gender Studies.
Financial support from alumni and friends enhances the academic opportunities, technology resources and faculty growth. From annual scholarship assistance to establishing endowments, gifts large and small support the academic goals of
UM-St. Louis.
