The Office of International Studies and Programs is responsible for UMSL's international education agenda. The office supports programs designed to ensure that students graduate with the international competence they will need to function in a world that's increasingly globalized.
There are three culture centers housed within International Studies-the German Culture Center, The Nicholas and Theodora Matsakis Hellenic Culture Center and the Japan America Society of St. Louis. The center provides study abroad and exchange programs for students in nearly every academic discipline at UMSL. In addition to sponsoring international artists and performers, the center coordinates seven academic certificate programs in international studies.
As international awareness becomes increasingly important in the career world, the center aims to provide additional opportunities and exposure. Resources for travel scholarships and international artists and lecturers are in high demand, and the center hopes to increase financial support for these programs.
