The College of Arts and Sciences teaches students to think critically, reflect on important issues, communicate effectively and prepare for a professional career. Through a variety of academic programs, the college educates students to supply knowledge, skills and intellectual leadership in both the private and public sectors.
The college is the oldest and largest on campus. This academic center provides for the educational needs of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students through its 14 departments, its School of Social Work and its Institute for Gender Studies.
Financial support from alumni and friends is used to improve academic opportunities, technology resources and enhance faculty growth. From annual scholarship assistance to establishing endowments, gifts large and small support the academic goals of the university.
