Since 1990, UMSL has housed a world-renowned center for the study of tropical ecology and conservation. The Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center aims to preserve the tropical and temperate ecosystems while educating the next generation of ecologists at a time when the conservation and wise use of natural resources is of paramount importance.
The center boasts the nation's largest and most diverse program in biology conservation. In cooperation with the Saint Louis Zoo and Missouri Botanical Garden, students and faculty enhance scientific exchanges, perform exciting research and promote awareness of conservation issues.
Gifts to the Whitney R. Harris World Ecology Center can be made in support of research scholarships, internship and travel awards, annual lectures and general program support. These gifts are invaluable to the study and science of global resource preservation.
