2008 Professional Development Conference for Teaching Assistants/ Research Assistants Schedule

Each concurrent session offers five tracks: Teaching with Technology, Classroom Management, Active Learning, Professional Development, and Research Assistants.

If you intend to enroll in the graduate Certificate in University Teaching (CUT) Unit 1, Ed Psy 7647 (a three-credit-hour course), check the Center for Teaching & Learning website (www.umsl.edu/ctl) for your first assignment—the conference journal—which will explain how and why to take notes in each session. This will be due the first night of class, August 25 (note the date).

To learn more about CUT, attend the Professional Development sessions at 10:30 a.m. Monday and 2:10 p.m. Tuesday—or get a head start by taking the two-hour workshops during the conference (these will also be offered during the fall semester). To receive credit for these workshops, please be sure to register online through the CTL website (above).

Note: Be sure you are enrolled in classes at least 3 days before the conference so your MyGateway account will be activated. If you are teaching, ask your department’s administrative assistant to make sure you are listed as “instructor of record” so you’ll have access to all MyGateway functions.
