Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Fellowships Fall 2007
Seven Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Fellowships are available during the fall 2007 semester. Faculty fellows will meet monthly to develop the objectives, requirements, assignments, and assessment plan for integrating a new service-learning or civic engagement experience into a spring semester course. The fellowships are supported by a small grant from Missouri Campus Compact to the Center for Teaching and Learning and the LEAD and Serve Program. Full-time faculty members who have not received Missouri Campus Compact funding in the last three years are eligible for the 2007-2008 Fellows Program. Applications are due August 15. Missouri Campus Compact
The Missouri Campus Compact is a statewide coalition of university and college presidents dedicated "to helping students develop the values and skills of civic participation through involvement in public service" (quotes are taken from the "Basic Tenets" of the national Campus Compact). Our State Compact currently has 32 members, with representatives from each of the categories of four-year public, four-year private, and two-year colleges and universities.
Missouri Campus Compact will hold its 4th Annual Missouri Campus Compact Statewide Conference on Service-Learning, Community Service and Civic Action on Friday and Saturday, October 17-18, 2008 at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference committee goals for 2008 are to share best practices and research, provide an atmosphere for statewide networking, and learn from leaders in the field of civic engagement. Proposals for concurrent sessions and workshops are due on June 6, 2008. Note that the request for proposals encourages faculty and staff to co-present with students.
