Teaching with Technology

The Center for Teaching and Learning, UMSL Online, and the Faculty Resource Center invite you to attend these workshops to help you develop a toolbox full of instructional strategies and technology solutions for some common academic questions.

Whether your course is on campus or online, these Teaching with Technology workshops will offer hands-on instruction and discussion about how to get students to do their work. Each workshop will be offered twice during the week -- once on each side of campus.

Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference: A Regional Conference
Fall Semester
University of Missouri - St. Louis Campus

Faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to submit proposals on innovations in technology, teaching, and research. Presentation options include workshops, concurrent sessions, and poster sessions. Keynote speakers are invited to bring topics supporting each year’s conference theme. The conference has been offered free-of-charge to St. Louis Area participants because of generous sponsors and campus vendors. A vendor exhibit is also scheduled to showcase new technologies and pedagogical tools.

Conference collaborators are solicited from among institutions of higher education in Missouri and Illinois. Recent co-hosts include the Center for Teaching and Learning at Maryville University; MOREnet; St. Louis Community College, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, along with the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Technology Fridays: Teaching and Learning Online

Technology Fridays are short (60-75 minute) weekly workshops focusing on a variety of issues related to using technology and the Internet in the classroom. Teaching and Technology Resource Fair

2007 Taste of Teaching and Technology Resource Fair
Informational presentations in computer classrooms are designed for faculty, staff, and Teaching Assistants. Each introduces instructional strategies and supports for MyGateway, Outlook, and new emerging technologies. The annual event is scheduled early in fall semester. Co-sponsors are the CTL, Continuing Education, and Information Technology Services.

Technology Enhanced Classroom Training

Faculty assigned to a Technology Enhanced Classroom may attend a session prior to the start of each semester or by appointment. Individual faculty receive email and campus mail about the schedule for the specific classroom(s) in which they will teach. Using Outlook Exchange

Faculty and students use Outlook Exchange for email. For Microsoft Outlook training please contact Mary Brown, 314-516-6016; email, brownma@umsl.edu. For more information on email or account policies please read the section under the Faculty Technology Guide titled "Policies.

Grants Management Training to Use PeopleSoft

Proposal information for external grant funding must be entered in the PeopleSoft financial application prior to grant submission. The person or department submitting the proposal is responsible for entering this information.
