Seeking AmeriCorps* VISTA Member to Develop Service-Learning at the University of Missouri-St. Louis
Become an AmeriCorps*VISTA member and help create a new service-learning program by building partnerships and mobilizing resources that connect students and communities in service to the common good. Develop valuable resume-building networking, outreach, and leadership skills in the process.
Specific duties
- Assist in strengthening strategic community partnerships
- Research and identify community needs that can be filled by UM-St. Louis students
- Plan and implement service events with campus and community organizations
- Work with faculty to integrate service-learning into the campus curriculum
- Recruit, train, and support students, faculty, and community agencies in service-learning
- Other related duties as assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 21 years of age or older
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Driver’s license and automobile preferred

- Professional demeanor

AmeriCorps*VISTA members serve full-time for one calendar year with varying work hours and receive a modest living allowance of $865, health insurance, relocation expenses, student loan forbearance, childcare assistance, and travel reimbursement. Upon completion of service, members choose between an education award of $4,725 or a cash stipend of $1,200, and receive non-competitive eligibility for federal employment. The position begins on July 1 or August 1, 2007.
